Babulal Marandi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Jharkhand Assembly, condemned the early morning operation, which involved senior officials including the City SP, SSP, and DC. He argued that the authorities are prioritizing the suppression of dissent over addressing the systemic failures within the Jharkhand Public Service Commission and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission. While the government has moved to cancel specific examinations, Marandi contends that these measures are insufficient to address the deep-seated corruption alleged by the demonstrators.
The standoff follows a volatile Monday protest march where students attempted to surround the Vidhan Sabha. Police deployed water cannons and lathi charges to break the lines, escalating the friction between the state and its academic youth. Despite the forceful dispersal, the students remain defiant, insisting that only an independent probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation can restore integrity to the state's hiring processes.
