Bungatavula, a native of Jettivaripalli village in the Kadapa district, had recently transitioned from his Master of Science studies at Kent State University to a professional role at a U.S. software firm. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene, while the three surviving passengers involved in the collision were transported to a local hospital for urgent medical care.
The Consulate General of India in New York has confirmed the fatality and is coordinating with the family to facilitate the repatriation of his remains. The North America Telugu Society has launched a fundraiser to support his parents, noting that his father, a farmer, made substantial financial sacrifices to fund his son’s education abroad. The community is currently working to assist the family with the costs associated with the funeral rites in India.
