China Imposes 54.3% Tariff on U.S. and Mexican Pecans

Mexico, which shipped $10.92 million worth of pecans to China last year, has already signaled a formal challenge to the decision. Officials at Mexico’s economy ministry stated they intend to fight the levies through appropriate trade channels, setting the stage for a prolonged dispute. The move complicates existing trade relations and places immediate pressure on North American producers who rely on the Chinese market for growth.
