During the parliamentary session, Sitharaman defended the amendment as a technical measure designed only to enable future electronic payment specifications rather than an immediate tax implementation. She maintained that no direct burden is currently being placed on digital transactions. Singh countered that the lack of explicit legislative safeguards means the eventual tax burden will inevitably trickle down to the common citizens who rely daily on digital payment infrastructure.
