BJP MP Rebuts US Congressman Over FCRA Bill Concerns

Kumar characterized the Congressman’s interpretation as a misguided exaggeration of the bill’s true purpose. The legislation focuses on the administrative handling of foreign assets once an organization’s FCRA registration expires. Under the proposed framework, a Designated Authority would manage these assets specifically to ensure that religious sites, including temples, mosques, and churches, retain their original status and character.

While Kumar acknowledged that internal domestic debate regarding the bill remains legitimate, he rejected the framing of the policy as a targeted attack on minority religious rights. He emphasized that India’s constitutional framework provides robust protections for religious freedom and pointed to the deep, long-standing historical roots of Christianity within the country to counter the suggestion of systemic hostility.
