The MP accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party of shielding affluent individuals while utilizing the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act to disproportionately target minority groups. He argued that the current regulatory framework lacks transparency regarding the scale of Indian assets leaving the nation, even as the government tightens the leash on foreign capital entering the economy.

The reintroduced amendment aims to modernize the 2010 Act by establishing a Designated Authority to monitor foreign contributions. According to Ministry of Home Affairs data, more than 13,000 entities received Rs 55,741 crore in foreign remittances between 2019 and 2022. Yadav maintains that the focus on these specific inflows serves as a political tool, creating a disparity where the wealthy continue to thrive under current administration policies while civil society faces increased scrutiny.
