Russian Forces Report Territorial Gains in Donetsk Region

Russian forces have seized control of two settlements in the eastern Donetsk region, according to claims released by the Ministry of Defence via the state-run RIA news agency. The reported advances near the strategic hubs of Kramatorsk and Druzhkivka mark a persistent attempt to shift the 1,200-kilometer frontline.

The ministry identified the captured villages as Vasyutinske, situated east of Kramatorsk, and Toretsk, located southwest of Druzhkivka. Ukrainian military officials have not confirmed the loss of these positions, and independent observers remain unable to verify the tactical shift on the ground.

Despite the lack of official Ukrainian confirmation, the frontline remains a theater of intense friction. Russian troops continue to press near Illinivka and Chasiv Yar, though their momentum remains measured across the broader landscape of the conflict. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy acknowledged the ongoing pressure in a recent address, focusing his remarks on the resilience of Ukrainian units rather than specific territorial losses.
