The initiative, which originated in 2022 during the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, aims to foster a direct personal connection between the public and the symbols of Indian independence. This year, the national effort carries additional significance as it aligns with the 150th anniversary of the anthem Vande Mataram, prompting a series of commemorative events across the country.
Beyond the flag-hoisting campaign, the Home Minister’s weekend visit included formal duties and private tributes. He attended the presentation of the President's Police Colour to the Puducherry Police force. Prior to these official engagements, Shah visited the Arulmigu Arunachaleswarar Temple in neighboring Tamil Nadu, where he spoke on the enduring influence of the teachings of sage Bhagwan Sri Ramana Maharshi.
