Annapurna Devi Accuses Congress of Silence on Jharkhand Exam Protests

Union Minister Annapurna Devi has leveled accusations of hypocrisy against the Congress party, challenging Rahul Gandhi to break his silence regarding ongoing student unrest in Jharkhand. She argues the party's failure to address local job-related grievances contradicts its vocal stance on student issues in other regions across the country.

The protests erupted following the July 5 release of Jharkhand’s civil services examination results, which triggered widespread allegations of malpractice. Devi condemned the JMM-led administration, demanding immediate accountability for the recruitment irregularities and a direct acknowledgement of the protesters' concerns.

Adding political pressure to the situation, MLA Jairam Mahto of the Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha recently concluded a one-day fast to demand a CBI investigation. Mahto alleges that high-ranking figures are implicated in the sale of public sector positions and has vowed to support the students' upcoming plan to surround the Legislative Assembly.
