Today’s agenda features a flurry of activity, including Japanese diplomacy in Mexico and Panama, and critical meetings between Turkish and Syrian officials in Ankara.

Global Diplomatic Schedule: Key Events Through October 2026

The current week marks a convergence of international engagement and historical reflection. While Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi initiates a tour of Mexico, Panama, and Ecuador, Ankara hosts Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani for working talks. Simultaneously, Pakistan’s leadership is expected in Saudi Arabia, and Myanmar’s president, Min Aung Hlaing, begins an official visit to Thailand.

Looking ahead, the diplomatic tempo accelerates as autumn approaches. Late August and September will see a significant concentration of regional power, headlined by the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Kyrgyzstan. Leaders including Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping are slated to attend, with Xi later scheduled for a visit to the United States. Economic policy also takes center stage, as G20 finance ministers gather in North Carolina in early September, followed by critical output policy discussions among OPEC+ nations in London and later in October.
