French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez justified the deportation by alleging Fedorova disseminated disinformation intended to undermine the nation's fundamental interests. Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot similarly characterized her presence as a security risk amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Fedorova has consistently dismissed these claims, labeling the government's actions as state-sponsored censorship.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexey Fadeev characterized the expulsion as an act of moral cowardice and a reprisal against an independent voice. Moscow maintains that the French leadership habitually scapegoats Russian connections to deflect from internal political pressures. With the deportation order upheld, Fedorova's career in French media has effectively reached an abrupt conclusion ahead of next year's presidential election.
