BJP Attacks Rahul Gandhi Over Jharkhand Recruitment Allegations

BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad has accused Rahul Gandhi of hypocrisy, questioning why the Congress leader remains silent on recruitment irregularities in Jharkhand despite his frequent vocal support for students elsewhere. The criticism follows widespread protests against the state’s handling of public service examinations and alleged corruption in government agencies.

BJP Attacks Rahul Gandhi Over Jharkhand Recruitment Allegations

Prasad targeted the Jharkhand ruling coalition for awarding examination contracts to a company previously blacklisted in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. He argued that Gandhi’s selective activism reveals a dual standard, contrasting his engagement with job seekers in regions like Allahabad with his deliberate avoidance of the crisis in a state supported by his own party. The BJP leader explicitly labeled this behavior as hypocritical, suggesting that the public is noticing the discrepancy in Gandhi’s political priorities.

The unrest stems from alleged malfeasance within the Jharkhand Public Service Commission and the Staff Selection Commission. Students have demanded an independent investigation and a complete overhaul of the state's recruitment process. As demonstrations intensify, local BJP and AJSU legislators have joined the cause, with some calling for the imposition of President's Rule. Protesters have signaled they will escalate their campaign with a planned siege of the Vidhan Sabha on August 10 if the government fails to address their grievances.
