Jharkhand Opposition Escalates Pressure Over Recruitment Scams

BJP legislators gathered outside the Jharkhand state assembly on Thursday to demand accountability for systemic failures in the state’s competitive examination process. The demonstration follows mounting frustration among thousands of job seekers who allege widespread corruption within the Jharkhand Public Service Commission and the JSSC CGL recruitment framework.

Jharkhand Opposition Escalates Pressure Over Recruitment Scams

BJP lawmaker Alok Chaurasia confirmed the party’s support for the student movement, citing fraud and administrative mismanagement as the primary drivers of the unrest. The protest coincides with a broader political clash, as BJP MP Damodar Agarwal accused opposition parties of hypocrisy, claiming they ignore student grievances in non-BJP states while selectively highlighting issues where the party holds power. Meanwhile, AJSU MLA Nirmal Mahto escalated the political stakes by calling for the imposition of President’s rule, citing a complete collapse of public trust in the state's governance.

The demonstrations are likely to intensify, with student leaders scheduling a 'Vidhan Sabha Gherao' for August 10. Protester Radhe Kumar confirmed that student representatives met with local officials, including the SDO, but remain committed to the blockade unless the government cancels exams conducted by TSR Data Processing Private Limited. The protesters are demanding a formal investigation by the CBI and ED, alongside a total overhaul of the current recruitment infrastructure to eliminate systemic vulnerabilities.
