The sharp rebuke occurred during a press briefing where the minister pivoted to the administration's legislative agenda, specifically the forthcoming Backward Classes Bill. Beyond legislative matters, the minister addressed the agricultural sector, asserting that the government remains a steadfast ally to tobacco cultivators. He pledged continued state intervention to protect growers against market volatility. This defense follows Jagan Mohan Reddy’s own public criticisms, in which the opposition leader accused the current government of apathy. During his visit to East Godavari district, Reddy alleged that tobacco farmers are suffering from a market syndicate that suppresses procurement prices, forcing producers into distress sales despite rising cultivation costs.
