Sanjay Raut Defends Opposition Over Ram Temple Donation Allegations

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut rejected accusations of being anti-Lord Ram on Thursday, asserting that questioning the alleged theft of temple donations is a matter of accountability rather than religious sentiment. His defense followed claims by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju that the Opposition is weaponizing the issue against the deity.

Raut dismissed the government’s narrative, arguing that his party’s focus remains strictly on the reported disappearance of valuables, including ornaments and religious artifacts from the Ram Temple. He questioned the definition of Hindutva being employed by his critics, suggesting that those who oversaw the alleged mismanagement are shielding themselves behind religious labels. The controversy over temple finances has become a central point of contention during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament, with the Opposition demanding transparency.

Addressing broader political friction, Raut also defended Rahul Gandhi against BJP claims of selective activism regarding student protests. While the BJP pointed to Gandhi's focus on Jantar Mantar over Jharkhand, Raut maintained that the Opposition remains engaged with youth issues and respects the autonomy of local movements. He further challenged RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat to expand his recent outreach to Gen Z by engaging with students who faced police action at Jantar Mantar. According to Raut, true dialogue with the younger generation requires listening to those enduring hardship rather than curated interactions.
