Stalin labels TVK maiden budget a total waste

The DMK president took to social media to attack the budget, arguing that the administration failed to deliver on core election promises intended for the 2026 assembly polls. Stalin highlighted the absence of previously pledged financial support, including a 2,500 rupee monthly allowance for women, 4,000 rupees for unemployed youth, and promised crop loan waivers for the agricultural sector.

Opposition leader Udhayanidhi Stalin reinforced these criticisms during a press conference, claiming the government simply rebranded existing initiatives. He pointed to the state's laptop distribution program as an example, asserting that officials merely applied their party's name to schemes already well underway. According to the opposition, the budget lacks a credible roadmap for implementation, leaving the public without relief from electricity tariff anomalies or inflation. Finance Minister Marie Wilson, however, framed the budget as a step toward a 1.5 trillion-dollar economy by 2031, despite the sharp political backlash.
