Pappu Yadav targets Bansuri Swaraj over recurring legal complaints

Independent MP Pappu Yadav unleashed a sharp critique of BJP parliamentarian Bansuri Swaraj on Wednesday, suggesting her political career is defined almost exclusively by a relentless drive to file legal cases against Rahul Gandhi. Yadav dismissed her actions as a misunderstanding of both parliamentary protocol and the law.

Speaking in New Delhi, the Purnia MP argued that Swaraj should prioritize seeking permission from the Speaker of the House before initiating police complaints. The friction stems from a recent, contentious skit performed by opposition members within the Parliament complex, where Yadav appeared in saffron robes to parody the alleged embezzlement of Ram Mandir donations. This performance triggered a wave of police complaints from BJP figures, including Swaraj, who accused the participants of outraging Hindu religious sentiments.

Yadav remains defiant regarding the privilege notice issued against him by BJP MP Sanjay Jaiswal. He intends to present his defense directly to Speaker Om Birla, questioning why political discourse in the House permits harsh rhetoric against figures like Nehru or Indira Gandhi, yet brands a protest skit outside the chambers as a breach of privilege. Amidst these tensions, Yadav also confirmed he would address a separate notice issued by a Prayagraj court, maintaining his stance against violence while navigating the mounting legal challenges filed in Varanasi and the capital.
