Russian Missile Barrage Kills Two in Kyiv and Surrounding Region

A relentless wave of ballistic missiles struck Kyiv in the early hours of Wednesday, tearing through warehouse districts and residential perimeters. The assault left one person dead and 12 injured in the capital, while a separate strike in the surrounding region claimed another life and wounded 21 more civilians.

The city’s military administration reported that seven distinct sites were targeted in the operation, which triggered air raid sirens for over an hour. Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that rescue teams pulled survivors from a destroyed warehouse near the city center, noting that search efforts remain ongoing as individuals may still be trapped beneath the debris. Among the casualties in Kyiv is an ambulance driver caught in the chaos.

Emergency crews are currently containing fires across storage facilities and addressing a localized ammonia leak caused by the strikes. While initial reports of a burning 20-storey apartment complex were corrected, debris from intercepted missiles fell dangerously close to residential zones. This latest escalation marks a significant intensification of Russian aerial activity over the capital, following a string of similar assaults throughout the month. Both Moscow and Kyiv continue to deny targeting civilian infrastructure in the ongoing conflict.
