Udhayanidhi Stalin detained following controversy over remarks

Stalin was removed from his Neelankarai home and transported to Thanjavur, the site of the original incident. During his speech, he faced interruptions from a crowd chanting the actor’s name, prompting him to remark that water should reach "there"—a statement critics interpreted as a double-entendre directed at the actress. Supporters of the ruling TVK party, including the women's wing, filed a formal complaint, while protests erupted in Coimbatore.

TVK MLA Rhevanth Charan condemned the comments as a new low in political discourse, accusing the DMK of resorting to cheap provocation. MDMK leader Durai Vaiko echoed this criticism, stating the event should have remained focused on the plight of farmers rather than personal attacks. Conversely, DMK MP TR Baalu dismissed the controversy entirely, asserting that Stalin never mentioned any individual by name and labeling the allegations as false.
