Udhayanidhi Stalin faces backlash over alleged remarks in Thanjavur

The controversy erupted during a public gathering in Thanjavur when chants of the actor's name from the crowd prompted Stalin to pause his address. He allegedly responded by stating that water should reach "there" regardless of its other destinations, a comment critics immediately interpreted as a slight against the actor. Though Stalin insisted he was discussing the flow of the Cauvery river, the political fallout was instantaneous.

TVK MLA Rhevanth Charan slammed the remark as a new low for the DMK, characterizing it as a desperate attempt to manufacture engagement through indecency. His sentiments were echoed by MDMK Rajya Sabha MP Durai Vaiko, who argued that such language distracts from the pressing needs of Tamil Nadu’s struggling farmers. In response to the growing outcry, DMK MP TR Baalu categorically denied the allegations, maintaining that Stalin never uttered the name of any individual and that the entire narrative is false.
