Alongside the ministerial changes, the party finalized key legislative appointments: GS Patil will serve as Speaker, while A. S. Ponnanna takes the role of Deputy Speaker.
Addressing the inevitable friction of excluding senior party members, Shivakumar drew on his own political history, noting that he once missed a cabinet berth before eventually rising to his current position. Priyank Kharge underscored the difficulty of the selection process, citing the depth of talent across the party’s 140-strong legislative bloc. The administration maintains a delicate equilibrium, blending the current ministry’s established figures with fresh additions to represent the state’s various districts and communities.
