Sukhu dismisses leadership change rumors as Himachal cabinet shakeup looms

The state cabinet currently faces a vacancy, alongside an open slot for the Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. Sukhu, who recently consulted with Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal, stated that final decisions regarding portfolio reallocations are nearing completion. Beyond the political maneuvering, the Chief Minister focused on infrastructure during his visit to Chamba, where he inaugurated new blocks at the Government Medical College. His administration has allocated an additional Rs 250 crore to finish the project, highlighting healthcare and education as primary governance pillars.

Opposition leader Jai Ram Thakur recently alleged that the Congress high command is dissatisfied with Sukhu’s performance, citing a report from party in-charge Rajani Patil that supposedly suggests a change in leadership. Sukhu countered these claims by labeling the BJP as a party built on corruption and social media conjecture, rather than substance. Addressing allegations of political vendettas against BJP MLAs, the Chief Minister maintained that investigations into unexplained wealth—some reaching Rs 100 crore—are strictly matters of public accountability. He insisted the party remains united, characterizing his tenure as a long-term commitment despite the opposition's persistent narrative of internal instability.
