A former British military veteran who served with the Gurkhas and special forces, he was remembered by officials and peers as a transformative figure in high-altitude mountaineering. The search operation, hampered by the mountain's technical difficulty, has located the bodies of all 10 victims. Among the dead were six Nepalis, along with climbers from Pakistan, Oman, the United States, and China. While drone footage has confirmed their positions, recovery remains complex. Sajid Hussain, deputy director of the Gilgit-Baltistan tourism department, noted that rescue teams are navigating extreme terrain, complicated by the lack of long-line helicopter rescue practices in the region. For now, the focus remains on the safety of the recovery crews as they attempt to bring the climbers down from the peak.
