Approximately 20 former TMC MPs broke away following the party’s assembly election defeat to form the NCPI, initially pledging support to the NDA. However, Roy insists that the transition was never intended to be a permanent alignment with the BJP. According to the veteran MP, these individuals now face significant pressure from their own constituencies, making their continued presence in the alliance a growing liability.
