Prosecutors are specifically examining a potential deal involving the distribution of a cannabidiol-based medication. While the probe has yet to be formally opened, it marks the second time this year that Justice Andre Mendonca has greenlit an inquiry into Lulinha’s ties to Antunes; the first case involves alleged irregular deductions from the National Social Security Institute pension fund.

Defense attorneys for Fabio Luis maintain that the investigation lacks a sound legal basis, describing the police request as a "fishing expedition" fueled by political motivations. In response to the growing scrutiny, President Lula stated in a recent podcast interview that he would not interfere with the process, asserting that his son must face the same legal standards as any other citizen. If wrongdoing is proven, the president told reporters, his son will be expected to pay the price.
