The violations, which concern third-party investments and dealings with intermediaries, were self-reported by Chelsea’s current ownership group following the takeover by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital in May 2022. The club stated they have cooperated transparently with regulators, voluntarily disclosing thousands of documents to address the legacy issues that predated the current management.
Beyond the fine, Chelsea faces a suspended two-window registration ban that remains active until June 30, 2027. This latest ruling follows a separate March penalty where the club paid a record £10.75 million for breaking Premier League regulations. The FA confirmed the £10 million sum will be funneled into grassroots football initiatives, while the club continues to navigate the fallout from these past financial and administrative oversights.
