India Extends PM-KISAN Farmer Cash Subsidy Through 2031

The cabinet’s decision pushes the government’s flagship income support scheme past its original 2027 expiration date, setting a new horizon for fiscal 2031. Under the current mandate, eligible landholding families receive 6,000 rupees annually, distributed in three equal installments directly to their bank accounts.

Since its 2019 inception, the initiative has funneled over 4.47 trillion rupees to the agricultural sector across 23 payment cycles. Recent data confirms the latest installment reached 94.9 million farmers, with a total payout exceeding 189.84 billion rupees. The program also highlights a significant demographic shift in rural finance, as women now account for nearly one in four beneficiaries, having received over 1.06 trillion rupees in total support since the scheme began.
