The revolt against FIFA has rapidly expanded beyond Europe. CONCACAF, representing North and Central American football, formally rejected the investment proposal, citing a lack of due process and an absence of oversight from relevant governance bodies. U.S. Soccer and Canada Soccer have mirrored this stance, signaling a mounting consensus against the privatization of the sport’s flagship competitions.

Prominent figures within the game have leveled sharp criticism at the FIFA leadership. Alexander Wehrle, CEO of VfB Stuttgart, questioned Infantino’s connection to the sport, stating that the organization’s mandate to oversee international regulations is being eclipsed by a pursuit of profit maximization. Norwegian FA chief Lise Klaveness emphasized that the project was developed in secrecy, warning that the organization will withdraw from FIFA competitions if the current trajectory continues. Meanwhile, British Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy voiced government support for the boycott, asserting that the sport must remain in the hands of fans rather than billionaire investors.
