Rijiju dismisses opposition to exam leak bill as political posturing

The legislation, which cleared the Rajya Sabha on July 30 after passing the Lok Sabha two days prior, aims to tighten the existing legal framework against exam paper leaks. While opposition members staged a walkout during the voting process, accusing the government of rushing the bill to silence student protests, Rijiju maintained that the measure received broad support from the majority of members. He described the dissent as a performance rather than a genuine critique of the policy itself.

With the law now headed toward implementation, Rijiju signaled that the government’s focus has shifted to safeguarding the student community against future irregularities. Addressing the persistent gridlock in Parliament, he called on opposition parties to allow the legislature to conduct its business, specifically citing the importance of Question Hour and the processing of pending bills. He expressed hope that future sessions would foster a more cooperative environment, allowing for the effective passage of further critical legislation.
