During his meetings with President Ahmed al-Sharaa and high-ranking officials, the Secretary-General will address the mechanics of stabilization. While recent security volatility remains a concern, the visit serves as a formal acknowledgment of Syria’s reentry into the global diplomatic fold as it attempts to move beyond over a decade of displacement and systemic collapse.
