The charges stem from accusations that the brothers abused women north of London between 2010 and 2017. While the Tates, who hold dual citizenship in the U.S. and U.K., previously faced similar allegations in Romania in 2022, those proceedings stalled amid procedural disputes. The brothers are slated for an initial appearance in Miami federal court early next week.
Joseph McBride, an attorney for the brothers, dismissed the new charges as "filth and slander" designed to sabotage defamation lawsuits the Tates recently initiated in the United States. McBride characterized the arrest as an overreach of authority, asserting that the Department of Justice is being weaponized to perform Britain's "political dirty work." Andrew Tate, 39, and Tristan Tate, 38, have consistently maintained that all allegations against them are fabrications, claiming their inflammatory rhetoric is frequently misinterpreted or taken out of context.
