At 11:30 am today, Hyderabad-based Skyroot Aerospace will attempt the maiden orbital flight of its Vikram-1 rocket from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. This mission, dubbed Aagaman, marks a critical shift for India’s private space industry as it transitions from suborbital testing to global orbital capabilities.

The launch from the First Launch Pad at SDSC-SHAR represents the next phase of the company's development following the successful 2022 Prarambh suborbital flight. Named in honor of Vikram Sarabhai, the father of India's space program, the Vikram-1 vehicle is designed to prove that domestic startups can reliably reach orbit. The mission serves as a rigorous performance test for the rocket's integrated systems and core technologies during actual flight conditions.

Public interest in the event is high, with the company providing live coverage through its official YouTube channel. Mission Aagaman is intended to secure flight data essential for the future of the company’s orbital launch program. By validating these next-generation launch vehicles, Skyroot aims to cement India's position in the competitive international private launch market.
