Iran Claims Strikes on US Aircraft in Jordan and Syria

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps declared it destroyed several American refueling aircraft and fighter jets stationed in Jordan, framing the assault as direct retaliation for overnight US strikes. While Tehran touts severe damage to US assets, Jordanian authorities maintain they intercepted three incoming missiles with no reported casualties or destruction.

Iran Claims Strikes on US Aircraft in Jordan and Syria

The IRGC’s statement extends beyond Jordanian territory, claiming a successful strike on a US special operations command center at al-Tanf in Syria. This action follows the reported deaths of Iranian soldiers in Iranshahr. Simultaneously, explosions rocked northern Iraq, where strikes against the Kurdish dissident group Komala resulted in at least nine deaths.

Regional instability continues to intensify as Iranian officials threaten to shut down the Strait of Hormuz, vowing to block all oil and gas exports until US military operations cease. Despite these aggressive claims, the US military has yet to issue a formal response or verification of the alleged aircraft losses. The situation remains volatile, particularly given that the US previously stated it had completed a withdrawal from the al-Tanf base in February, casting further uncertainty over the reported targets.
