US Strikes Target Iranian Infrastructure as Conflict Escalates

Seven people are dead in Iran after a sixth consecutive night of American airstrikes hit critical infrastructure, including three bridges, a train station, and an airport. The bombardment signals a shift in strategy as Washington intensifies pressure on Tehran to relinquish its control over the vital Strait of Hormuz.

US Strikes Target Iranian Infrastructure as Conflict Escalates

The US military’s Central Command confirmed that fighter jets, drones, and warships struck dozens of coastal surveillance, air defense, and logistics sites across southern Iranian cities, including Ahvaz, Qeshm, and Bandar-e Lengeh. Iranian state television reported that the destruction of road and rail links in Hormozgan province accounted for the latest civilian fatalities, while power outages were recorded in Iranshahr and on Kish Island.

Retaliation from Tehran has been swift, with missile and drone barrages targeting US-allied nations. Iranian forces struck an expanded air base in Jordan and prompted public shelter warnings in Qatar, a nation currently attempting to mediate the conflict alongside Pakistan. The collapse of an interim ceasefire has left both sides locked in a cycle of tit-for-tat violence, with Iranian officials claiming that recent US military actions have caused over 40 deaths and 300 injuries.

President Donald Trump maintains that the military campaign is progressing, despite the strategic deadlock at the Strait of Hormuz. Tehran continues to treat the waterway as an "invincible red line," having effectively closed it to shipping since late February. According to Lloyd's List Intelligence, the resulting naval blockade and ongoing hostilities have forced a 25 percent drop in cargo shipments, as global oil markets grapple with the uncertainty of the energy corridor's future.
