The timing of the broadcast is pointed, coinciding with the anniversary of an international arbitral ruling that rejected China’s sweeping territorial claims. While Beijing continues to ignore the 2016 legal decision, this latest digital content has drawn immediate condemnation from the Philippine government, which labeled the imagery as offensive and entirely unacceptable.
Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro did not mince words, describing the video as a display of moral and intellectual bankruptcy. He argued that the reliance on dehumanizing caricatures reflects a failure by Beijing to engage in rational or legitimate discourse regarding its maritime ambitions. Manila is now demanding the immediate removal of the video from all social media platforms.
