The upcoming session, scheduled to run through August 13, faces a heavy agenda featuring the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026, and the Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhishthan Bill, 2025. While the government presents the former as a necessary step for financial transparency, the education bill has ignited fierce pushback. Critics argue the proposed framework grants the state excessive control over higher education, forcing the legislation into a Joint Parliamentary Committee review despite efforts by Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to calm the waters.
Beyond these bills, the government must also navigate an Income-tax (Amendment) Bill aimed at stabilizing the sovereign debt market. The opposition shows no signs of yielding, with plans to grill the ruling party on high-stakes scandals. Alleged financial irregularities regarding Ayodhya Ram Temple donations, combined with the fallout from NEET-UG paper leaks and contested elements of foreign policy, ensure that the chamber will remain a battleground until the session concludes in mid-August.
