Pakistan Bolsters Security at Saindak Mine Following Insurgent Threats

Balochistan’s Saindak copper and gold mine faces heightened security protocols this week as Pakistan moves to shield Chinese-managed assets from separatist insurgents. Authorities stepped in after rumors of a total site shutdown rattled stakeholders, forcing officials to clarify the facility’s status as a critical, ongoing economic venture.

Saindak Metals Limited Managing Director Raziq Sanjrani dismissed reports of a closure as baseless, affirming that the mine has maintained production for 25 years. While severe transport disruptions caused by impassable routes in the region initially sparked logistical fears, Sanjrani confirmed that coordination with provincial authorities has secured supply chains for essential materials.

State Minister for Interior Talal Chaudhry pledged a reinforced military and police presence to protect both the facility and its personnel. Balochistan remains a volatile conflict zone, as separatist groups continue to target foreign-backed projects to protest resource distribution and demand regional autonomy.
