Supriya Sule Rejects Claims of NCP Support for Delimitation Bill

Nationalist Congress Party MP Supriya Sule has publicly refuted media reports suggesting her party has endorsed the Union government’s proposed Delimitation Bill. Dismissing the speculation as entirely baseless, she stated that no official stance has been reached, characterizing recent narratives as inaccurate conjecture rather than reflections of party policy.

The NCP’s position on the sensitive delimitation issue remains strictly internal, pending formal consultations with the INDIA alliance. Sule insisted that definitive party directives are only established through these collective deliberations, rather than through individual media interactions. She specifically called for the Union government to engage the entire INDIA bloc as a unified entity, rather than pursuing fragmented discussions, a strategy she noted was previously observed during meetings with Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The proposed Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill remains a point of intense political focus, particularly as it failed to secure the necessary two-thirds majority in its previous iteration. While rumors persist regarding its potential reintroduction during the upcoming Monsoon Session, the government has yet to provide an official timeline. For now, the NCP maintains that it will withhold any final judgment until the Centre formally presents the legislation before Parliament.
