Supreme Court Grants Interim Relief for Friday Prayers at Bhojshala

The Supreme Court has issued an interim order permitting the Muslim community to conduct Friday prayers within a designated area at the Bhojshala complex in Madhya Pradesh. This decision arrives amid a protracted legal battle over the site, which the High Court previously recognized as a temple dedicated to Goddess Saraswati.

Ashish Goyal, vice-president of the Hindu Front for Justice and a petitioner in the case, stated that his side maintains full trust in the judiciary. He noted that all parties should adhere to court directives, affirming that the High Court’s previous ruling granting Hindu worshippers access to the site remains fully enforceable.

Political friction persists alongside the legal proceedings. Congress spokesperson Abbas Hafeez accused the ruling BJP of leveraging the dispute to incite communal unrest, calling for the preservation of harmony in the region. The Supreme Court has now issued notices to both central and state government authorities, underscoring the complexity of the ongoing litigation surrounding this historically contested landmark.
