Residents were caught off guard as blasts preceded official warning sirens, signaling a shift in the speed and intensity of incoming fire. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the assault involved six ballistic missiles, six cruise missiles, and 121 drones. While air defense units managed to intercept 111 drones and two cruise missiles, the high-velocity ballistic projectiles successfully penetrated the city's protective perimeter.
Municipal authorities, including Mayor Vitali Klitschko, confirmed the strikes caused significant infrastructure damage, triggering fires at an office complex and a transformer substation. This latest attack brings the casualty count for the month to more than 60, highlighting the strain on the city’s ability to repel fast-moving threats. With critical munitions running low, the capital faces a precarious window as it waits for promised international air defense supplies to arrive.
