BRS Seeks Voter Roll Extension Over 20 Lakh Duplicate Registrations

Claiming that 20 lakh duplicate entries have compromised Telangana’s electoral integrity, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi is pushing the Election Commission for a one-month extension to the Special Intensive Revision. Party leaders argue the current 16-day window fails to provide the rigor required for accurate house-to-house enumeration.

BRS leader Soma Bharath Kumar presented these findings directly to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, advocating for a nationwide 'one citizen, one vote' policy. The party maintains that the current timeline makes it physically impossible to verify the massive backlog of irregularities effectively.

Representatives Vaddiraju Ravichandra and B. Vinod Kumar echoed these concerns, noting that the likelihood of completing a thorough audit within the remaining schedule is slim. With voters frequently appearing across multiple constituencies, the BRS maintains that rushing the process invites further administrative errors rather than resolving the existing ones.
