Broos revealed his plans during an interview in Belgium, clarifying that while he intends to step away from the daily grind of football management, he remains open to a consulting role. He described the move as irreversible, noting that he no longer wishes to dedicate 24 hours a day to the sport. The South African Football Association chairman has already initiated talks regarding a potential advisory position, with a final meeting scheduled for late July to determine if a formal arrangement can be reached.
During his five-year tenure, Broos became the longest-serving coach in the country’s history, overseeing a significant turnaround for the national program. Despite his retirement from active coaching, he remains pragmatic about his post-football life, joking that his wife is eager for him to stay busy rather than lingering at home. If the association proposes a flexible schedule involving periodic travel, Broos suggested he would consider maintaining a limited presence to support the team’s ongoing development.
