Roommate recounts Tyler Robinson's remorse following Charlie Kirk killing

Tyler Robinson reportedly broke down in tears and expressed deep regret just hours after the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, according to a video interview with his former roommate, Lance Twiggs, played during a preliminary court hearing in Utah on Thursday.

The testimony emerged as prosecutors work to convince District Judge Tony Graf that sufficient evidence exists to proceed with a trial against Robinson, who faces seven criminal charges including aggravated murder. If convicted, the 31-year-old could face the death penalty. During the recorded April 20 interview, Twiggs detailed the morning of September 11, 2025, when Robinson returned to their shared St. George townhouse. Twiggs recalled asking Robinson if the earlier admission of the shooting was true. Robinson allegedly confirmed his involvement, crying and stating he wished he had never committed the act.

Prosecutors presented a series of text messages, a Discord chat, and a handwritten note as part of their effort to establish a political motive. In one exchange, Robinson allegedly told Twiggs he had "had enough of his hatred" regarding Kirk. While the defense team has argued that investigators overlooked potential alternative suspects and has pushed to limit the introduction of evidence concerning political intent, the court remains focused on the admissibility of these communications. Twiggs, who was granted immunity for his cooperation, did not testify in person, as the judge limited certain portions of the interview to protect the defendant's right to a fair trial. The hearing continues as the family of Charlie Kirk demands full disclosure of all evidence.
