The challenge follows Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s recent labeling of BRS leadership—specifically K. Chandrashekar Rao, K.T. Rama Rao, and T. Harish Rao—as "economic terrorists." During a presentation at Praja Bhavan, the Chief Minister alleged that the previous administration squandered 1.02 lakh crore rupees on a project he described as a total disaster. Reddy has since invited the opposition to a joint legislative session to debate the project’s performance, demanding that KCR formally coordinate with the Speaker to set a date.
Sridhar dismissed the government’s narrative, arguing that the current administration is intentionally sabotaging the project to score political points at the expense of agricultural needs. He specifically urged the government to operationalize the Kannepally pump house, maintaining that the BRS remains prepared to demonstrate the project's efficacy if given the mandate. The dispute highlights a deepening rift in Telangana politics, with both sides trading accusations of mismanagement and economic sabotage regarding the state's massive irrigation investment.
