Ukraine Denies Involvement in Nord Stream Pipeline Sabotage

Ukraine’s Prosecutor General has officially rejected allegations that Kyiv orchestrated the 2022 Nord Stream pipeline explosions, challenging a growing German investigation that points to the involvement of Ukrainian military personnel in the Baltic Sea attacks.

Ukraine Denies Involvement in Nord Stream Pipeline Sabotage

The Prosecutor General’s office stated that current evidence shows no link between the state, its official entities, or any government officials and the September 2022 blasts. While the investigation remains ongoing, the office emphasized that no orders were issued by Ukraine regarding the destruction of the pipelines, which severed a primary route for Russian gas exports to Europe.

This denial follows recent moves by German authorities, who charged a former Ukrainian army officer, identified as Serhii K., with acting as a co-perpetrator in the sabotage. German prosecutors allege that Serhii K. collaborated with military personnel to permanently disrupt gas deliveries and undermine Russian war financing. Following his arrest in Italy and subsequent transfer to Germany, the suspect has denied all charges. In response to the escalating legal pressure, Kyiv has proposed establishing a joint investigation team to facilitate a direct exchange of information with German authorities.
