The financing will facilitate the construction of a modern cold chain distribution center and the launch of 240 additional convenience stores across Ulaanbaatar and regional provinces. By centralizing logistics, the initiative seeks to solve persistent supply bottlenecks that have historically limited access to essential goods in remote areas. Chandra Mohan Arora, the bank’s country operations head, emphasized that the project serves as a stabilizer for the domestic food supply chain.
Beyond infrastructure, the deal focuses on economic inclusion. Premium Nexus plans to expand its network of local suppliers and prioritize women-led enterprises through improved franchise access and shelf space. This strategy aligns with the company’s role as Mongolia's second-largest private employer, currently overseeing 557 stores. The investment, verified by Det Norske Veritas as a social loan, aims to demonstrate a scalable model for private-sector driven development that prioritizes both employment growth and nationwide food security.
