Any such reversal of policy remains tethered to a likely legislative standoff, as members of the U.S. Congress have previously signaled deep-seated resistance to such transfers.
To solidify its position as an indispensable NATO pillar, Ankara has committed to reaching the alliance’s defense spending benchmarks by 2030. Part of this strategic expansion includes a $24 billion investment in the Steel Dome air defense project, a move designed to bolster the alliance's regional protective umbrella and demonstrate Turkey’s resolve to modernize its military architecture independently.
