Medics confirmed that an initial strike in Khan Younis killed one man and wounded two children, an operation the Israeli military described as a targeted hit on a Hamas operative. The violence spread later in the day when separate projectiles impacted near a tent encampment in western Gaza City, leaving one person dead and five others injured. A subsequent strike in Khan Younis claimed another life and left three more wounded; the Israeli military has not provided specific comment on these later engagements.
Since the collapse of the October U.S.-brokered ceasefire, the death toll has climbed to 1,070 Palestinians and four Israeli soldiers. Both factions trade blame for the recurrent violations of the truce, while millions of civilians remain displaced and trapped within the conflict zone.
