Former minister Ambati Rambabu condemned the state’s aggressive pursuit of Joseph, known online as Prashna Ravan, alongside other creators like KVR and Ravan. According to Rambabu, these legal actions are not merely about public order but are designed to dismantle criticism of governance failures. The YSRCP has pledged to provide legal and political support to these influencers, regardless of their ideological leanings.
The party’s concerns extend beyond individual arrests, pointing to systemic pressure placed on police to hand over detainees to ruling party cadres. By bypassing traditional judicial processes, the government risks eroding the rule of law. The use of the UAPA—a statute typically reserved for grave national security threats—against a YouTuber has drawn sharp criticism from opposition leaders who view the move as an escalation in the state’s intolerance for digital dissent.
