BRS Demands Electoral Roll Extension to Prevent Voter Disenfranchisement

With the October 1 deadline for the final electoral rolls rapidly approaching, the Bharat Rashtra Samiti is pushing for a one-month extension of the Special Intensive Revision process. The party warns that current procedural gaps at the ground level threaten to leave thousands of eligible citizens off the voter list.

Soma Bharath Kumar, the BRS State General Secretary, formally petitioned the Election Commission to adjust the timeline, citing concerns that the existing schedule does not allow for a thorough audit of the rolls. The revision exercise, which began in mid-June, has faced logistical hurdles that could lead to the erroneous deletion of legitimate voters if left unaddressed.

While the Election Commission has acknowledged the potential for administrative errors and pledged to mitigate risks, the BRS maintains that only an extension will guarantee the integrity of the final publication. The party argues that additional time is essential to reconcile outdated entries and ensure the accuracy of the voter database before the upcoming cycle.
